Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cup turkey broth low-sodium
  • 0.25 tsp kosher salt
  • 0.125 tsp ground black pepper

Equipment

  • 1 2-quart saucepan

Method

  1. Melt the butter in a 2-quart saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Whisk in the flour and cook, whisking constantly, for 2 to 3 minutes, until the roux is smooth and pale golden.
  3. Gradually whisk in the low-sodium turkey broth until smooth.
  4. Bring the gravy to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  5. Cook, whisking often, for 5 to 8 minutes, until thickened enough to coat the back of a spoon.
  6. Stir in the kosher salt and ground black pepper.
  7. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
  8. Serve warm.

Notes

Whisk the broth in gradually to help prevent lumps. Refrigerate leftovers for 3 to 4 days; freezer-friendly. For a dairy-free option, use plant-based butter.
