Ingredients

  • 8 cup water
  • 2 tsp kosher salt divided
  • 1 lb green beans fresh, trimmed
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 0.33 cup almonds sliced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice fresh
  • 0.13 tsp black pepper ground

Equipment

  • 1 12-inch skillet

Method

  1. Bring the water and 1 1/2 teaspoons of the salt to a boil in a large pot.
  2. Add the green beans and cook for 3 to 4 minutes, until bright green and crisp-tender.
  3. Drain the beans.
  4. Melt the butter in a 12-inch skillet over medium heat.
  5. Add the almonds and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring often, until golden.
  6. Add the beans to the skillet and toss for 2 to 3 minutes, until heated through.
  7. Remove from the heat and toss with the lemon juice, remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt, and black pepper.

Notes

For the best texture, drain the beans well before adding them to the skillet. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days; freezing is not recommended. For a dairy-free version, replace the butter with olive oil.
