Ingredients

For the casserole
  • 2 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 0.5 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 4 can (14.5 oz) cut green beans drained
For the casserole and topping
  • 2.5 cup French fried onions divided

Equipment

  • 1 6-quart slow cooker

Method

Make the casserole
  1. In a 6-quart slow cooker, stir together the condensed cream of mushroom soup, whole milk, soy sauce, and black pepper.
  2. Fold in the cut green beans and 1 1/2 cups of the French fried onions.
  3. Cook covered on LOW for 3 to 4 hours or HIGH for 2 to 3 hours, until hot throughout and bubbling around the edges.
Add the topping
  1. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of French fried onions over the casserole just before serving.

Notes

Drain the green beans thoroughly to help keep the casserole creamy rather than watery. Refrigerate leftovers for 3 to 4 days; freezing is not recommended because the texture can become watery. For a dairy-free variation, use dairy-free condensed cream of mushroom soup and unsweetened plant milk.
