Ingredients

  • 4 can (14.5 oz) cut green beans drained
  • 2 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 2.5 cup French fried onions divided

Equipment

  • 1 9x13-inch baking dish

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  3. In a large bowl, stir together the green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper, and 1 1/2 cups of the French fried onions.
  4. Spread the mixture in the prepared dish.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes, until hot and bubbling.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup French fried onions over the casserole.
  7. Bake for 5 minutes, until the onions are golden brown.
  8. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For the crispiest topping, add the remaining onions only for the final 5 minutes of baking. Refrigerate leftovers for 3 to 4 days; freezing is not recommended because it can soften the topping. For a dairy-free variation, use unsweetened plant milk and dairy-free cream of mushroom soup.
